I'm planning on going with an Eheim wet/dry, an Aqua C Remora protein skimmer, and live rock in my 75g fish only tank.

Do I need and should I get a sump?

Depends on what you want the sump for. You won't need it, but it will add to the overall water volume, and allow you to place equipment safely out of the main tank.

I'm a big fan of sumps. In addition to the above-mentioned benefits, they also help with oxygenation and allow you to perform water changes, conduct water tests, and add supplements all without disturbing the main tank. It would also give you the option of using an in-sump skimmer instead of a hang-on skimmer.
