first pic

Hey beautiful tank and I love your Festivum. I have had one for a couple of years but it has no yellow on it. Are the males more likely to have more yellow? Mine has long fins so I have thought it was a male and I would like to get it a mate as I am setting up a 55 gl for "it's" new home.

Thanx Bugman. The above pic is actually a female, the male is more robust, but the colour pattern is pretty much the same.

Their colour changes from almost white with an olive back, to what you see here, to olive body, yellow belly, and dark brown bars all over the body. Depends on their mood I guess.

Perhaps if you get a second or third festivum they might colour up more. All my fish have pretty vibrant colours. I don't know whether to attribute that to a healthy varied diet, consistant water changes, or just dumb luck.

Here's a pic of the male with the female, you can see he's much more robust than the female (sorry about the poor pic quality)

Nice!
I just talked to LFS and there's really no way to get a fully grown festivum thru them. I might order a smaller pair though.

I've noticed his color changes quite often, from the vertical bars showing to fading almost completely away. Hopefully he'll have less stress in new home. It's cycling now.
