I am about 2 1/2 weeks into cycling my tank. The numbers are as follows:
78 temp
8.2 PH
1.023 salinity
.25 ammonia
2.0 nitrites
20.0 nitrates
there is some brownish algea looking stuff starting to form on my sand (started as small spots now its starting to expand). I have been told that this is like a diatom algea(??). My question is that I have read that this is a normal part of cycling the tank, unpreventable and will disappear when the cycle is complete. Am I correctly informed on this? Is there more to know about this stuff? I am only assuming that is what this stuff is but it kinda meets the description I have been given.
