Hi

I would love to have an Oscar but don't think that I really have the space for such a large tank. I am really attracted by their personality's and that fact that they become quite attached to you. Is there another fish that is similar to an oscar in this way but doesn't need such a large tank (am I right in thinking that an Oscar would need a 4ft tank to give it enough room to swim freely?).

Many thanks

I've always thought Bettas in a good sized tank (10 gallons or more) show a lot of personality. Mine would always greet me, swim up to me, and let me pet them.

It's a shame most people keep them in those tiny bowls...

Most cichlids have a personality. If you have a 45 gal. tank, a severum might be a good choice. They are relatively peaceful and they'll come and see you.

Thanks for your suggestions. I think I will probably have a 20-25g tank. During my reseach I have come across lumphead/blockhead cichlids - anyone had any experience with them?

Thanks

Callie

Convicts - I currently have a pair living happily in a 20 gallon. Some people might think they're boring because of how common they are, but they have loads of personality, can develop relatively pretty colors and are ridiculously easy to breed.
