I would like confirmation that this is indeed a Midas Blenny?
I've had a Midas on my want list for a while and was only recently able to find one locally. Problem is the vendor made me meet him on a street corner like a drug drop- so I'm wanting confirmation on his now deemed untrustworthy ID.
Blennies all have one continuous dorsal, right? I'm thinking the notch in this dorsal is an old injury but wanted to double check in case there is some sort of Midas imposter out there.
He eats meaty bits ravenously and is quite the character!

Looks to me like a Midas. That is wierd how you got the fish, but Midas's are really cool fish.

That's a cool fish, but I really have to wonder why the secrecy? That's a pretty strange way of obtaining something that's not contraband!

I found him as a vendor on Ebay, and emailed to ask about local sales. He replied "fine"- but they would deliver and would not let me pick up in person.
I then decided that if he didn't want me to know where he lived that I darn well didn't want him to know where I lived.
We exchanged car models and chose a street corner...
Paranoid- sure.
But you can never be too careful.
I watch too many CSI's/Touching Evil's :D
I'm so paranoid that if I have an in house worker due here when I am alone I always write down the name of the company in a secret place where only my husband can find it.
That way if I turn up missing at least the Without A Trace crew has somewhere to start looking.

I would also question the health of the fish if they refuse to let you know anything else.
I have no trust for ebayers, and I'm losing more and more trust for fish vendors the more I read.

I'd question the health of a fish even if "insert divinity here" gave it to me. All mine spend time in a quarantine tank.

Definetly a Midas. The notch you see isnt a break in the fin and is normal from what I have observed.

Thank you!
He's a real character- makes my chow hound of a dog look anorexic!
