Six months ago I started my 55g without a plan and have made several mistakes along the way. Thanks to this forum I have made many improvements (fert dosing, water changes etc). My goal with my tank is for it to look as natural as possible while providing a safe/secure environment for the fish. I plan to remove the fake ornaments, add flourite or something similar to my existing gravel substrate and finally begin CO2 injection. I like the look of driftwood but beyond that I am not sure what direction to take. Maintenance and time is not an issue since I enjoy working with the aquarium. I would appreciate any suggestions on plants to add/avoid and best choices for natural decor.

I have two 55s and they are difficult to 'scape', at least for me. Just too shallow(front to back).
I would definitely stay away from any Amazon Swords, other than the very small, dwarf varieties. Full sized amazons are just too big for a 55.
I'll leave the scaping tips to others. I can grow plants, but have no clue how to arrange them. I really admire those who do.
