hey guys, I have a 3" bristlenose pleco I bought for my 20 long shelldweller tank when it became covered in brown algae. I never dreamed he'd have it spotfree within a couple days so now I'm feeding him wafers to compensate. I have a couple other tanks that have brown algae spots as well and I wonder how bad it would be to move him from tank to tank, leaving him in for a couple weeks at a time? just a thought, Kyle

I think constantly getting cuaght, acclamated and moved would be a bit traumatic for the fish. Plus, you increase the risk of something going wrong like getting hung up in a net or something.

I kinda think that myself. I just wondered if anyone else had done this successfully. nothing else seems to want to touch the brown algae. our snail tank is starting to get covered by little spots on the glass. you'd think of the 4 types of snails in there that one of them would eat it. I'll probably just live with it, Kyle

The ones I have are tough customers-assuming your tanks have the same water conditions, although they could vary a lot depending on different things, it would probably do ok if acclimated properly and you did not do it too often, every couple of weeks being too much IMO. I would go every couple of months. That being said, it is, like the other folks mentioned, ideal to leave them be and supplement their food.
