Hello,

Quick question. I have 3 red tail sharks in my tank. I notice that the older one (2 years old) eats the flake food with no problem. The other 2 smaller ones (about 6 months old) don't seem to be interested much in the flake food. I do see them eating the algae on the plants and rocks but I want to make sure they get enough in their diet since they are so small. Is there something else I should be feeding them ?

nope i accutally combine the two, tetramin is the brand i use, really brought out the color in my flame gourami

I have the same thing with my Red Tail. He's younger and doesn't seem to eat any flakes (very few times have I seen him eat flakes or pellets). I've fed Bloodworms (frozen) but he mostly passes on them too. I'm considering feeding live black worms next...

he seems to be scavenging the algae (which in a new tank is minimal) and I wonder if he is getting enough food too!

Anyone else have trouble feeding red tails?

I crunch up a tubifex worm cube and just drop it on top of the water, the other fish break it up. I see my rainbow snatching up tiny pieces. There mouths are really tiny and it helps for them to see the food floating downward. My rainbow tends to feed at mid level, but is learning to go to the top now.

He also spends alot of time cruising my wood for algae. You can try spirulina flakes, I've been considering this too.

How in the heck can you keep 3 RTBS in the same tank? They are intolerant of each others company. If you leave it that way you'll only have one before too long.

weird

i don't know much but i have two red tailed sharks in a 50 g tank allong with some barbs(10) and skirts(4) and gourmis(2) (i can't spell) for a year or more and they all get along great i never see any damages to any of the fish ever

I have 4 RTS in a 29 gallon and so far so good. All sharks are approximately 3.5 inches. They have been together for about 4 to 5 months. They love frozen mysis and brine shrimp. Mysis have more meat
