Filter-Max III -- How to Attach?

I recently set up an Eheim 2213 with a Filter-Max III prefilter. The instructions on the box leave something to be desired, but the product seemed simple enough. I attached the Filter-Max using the two supplied elbows and the adaper that slides over the Eheim hard intake tubing (had to cut down the intake in order to get the prefilter to fit in the vertical space of the tank).

This method of attachment doesn't seem so secure, and the prefilter has had a tendency to sway a bit in the first couple weeks of operation. Is there something I'm missing here, or does the Filter-Max just not attach too tightly?

I recently bought these too, I II III. You're right, the fit is not airtight. Try to push it in as far as you can. I seemed to get a better fit with a/c filter intake.

Depending on how sloppy it is, I have used 0-rings for other types of prefilter tubes to get a snug fit and prevent bypass.
