filter for a 45 gal tank

I AM ABOUT TO SET UP A 45 GAL PLANTED TANK.I HAVE 2 FILTERS AVIABLE TO USE UNSURE WHICH WOULD BE BEST.
WHISPER 4 OR 5,BIG FILTER OR A FLUVAL 204.WHICH DO YOU THINK WOULD BE THE BETTER CHOICE?
 
Filters that disrupt the surface the LEAST are recommended over Hand On Back type filters that ripple the surface. I'd go with the fluval.
 
I would also go with the fluval.....its really easy to put whatever you want in there also instead of have to replace cartridges.

In my canister filter I have:

Ceramic cylinders for bacterial colonization
Foam of various density for mechanical filteration
Lava rock for bacterial colonization
Bio Balls for bacterial colonization
.....thats about it

Doesn't seem like much but its been running like that for years with no problems.
