for a cleaning of your tank. This would be changing of filters, scraping of algae, gravel vaccing, everything. Im starting my own business for the summer cleaning aquariums and im looking to seehow much everyone would pay. Thanks, Justin
I'd pay somewhere between $25 and $50 depending on the size of the job. My planted tanks don't need gravel vac'ing but cleaning a canister filter is a big thing.
What I'd really be inerested in is having someone able to do a simple water change and add ferts just once in the middle of a long vacation. Not weekly.
Mostly I need someone who I could trust in an emergency. Say the kid who feeds the cat notices the filter is stopped and the fish are gasping at the surface....who ya' gonna call? Even if I could be reached, there only a few things I'd be able to talk the kid through. But, if I had an experienced fish keeper come in, you could probably find the problem or I could help you by phone.
I'd pay about $10/hour for that service, given that it is somewhat skilled labor -- i.e., you know how to take care of fish. Like anona, it's not something I would use regularly since I don't mind cleaning my tanks, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who would, and I agree it would be good for vacations. Great idea for a summer business! Be sure to let us know how it goes.
I will let you know how it goes, and itll be 20, 30 bucks for tanks up to 55 gallons and 40, 50 up to 120 gallons. Sounds about right to me. Thanks for the advice!
