I guess we don't have as many plant enthusiasts as I had hoped...

Seems like the forums are slowing down significantly...

As for contests and things I'm not too big on them anymore. That's what first got me into planted tanks not too long ago but now I realize looking at those pics only cost me time and money! After seeing them I'm never happy with my own work but realistically those are very dedicated people that devote HOURS to their tanks.

NOt all of the tanks:) Mine are in there (granted they don't hold up to the others, but they're there nonetheless!).

I like to look for inspiration:)

The thing I dont like about that contest is the lack of size categories. I dont think my 10g could ever compete with the ~150g that won, you know?

Oh, and it seems judges really like people who follow the "rules" of golden ratios and yadayadayada....

But it's still cool, I think:)

There was a thread about contest tanks a few months back. I agree that the judges seem to prefer a more formal look. Dutch style seems to do well consistently in their opinions. Not that there is anything wrong with that...

Still, I like looking too and getting inspiration.

First time I've had a chance to look them over. Some really nice tanks--some that seem too thickly planted to me, but then I like seeing my wood and rocks.

Very inspiring indeed!!

When I first started my planted tank, I was convinced that bigger is better. After seeing some of these tanks, I'm convinced that any size tank can be made to look beautifully planted...just need planning, homework on what works together and dedication.
