The tank is in the lobby of my grandfather's company- it arrived a few weeks ago, but I hadn't been able to drive the ~70 miles (1 way) to see it until today. I bought 30 Giant Danios and some hornwort to get it started cycling.

The tank is 10 feet long, 2 feet front-back, and 3 feet deep. To give you an idea of the scale of the tank, those little fish-shaped dots in the attached pic are the giant danios; most of them are about 4" long. So yeah, it's a big tank. :D

Cool.

I would have fishless cycled it - wouldn't have hurt the fish and it would've cost about 2$ of ammonia. Not the price of 30 giant danios!

Didn't even think of cycling it without fish. :-/ Oh well... the danios may stay in there anyhow, since they seem to like it, and they look nice in it. Besides, the giant danios, if I get rid of them when I'm done cycling the tank, will have cost nothing- the pet store sells them for $2 each, and gives you a $2 credit when you sell them back to them. They do the same thing with the fish they sell for saltwater cycling.

I couldnt begin to imagine trying to catch 30 giant danios in a tank that size, lol. hopefully you have a very large net?

but anyway... *drooling with envy* very nice tank :D

I've got an arowana in my 10g right now (a very small one, of course). I might put it in there, but I doubt it. The tank is only 2' front-back, and the background is a 3d polystyrene sculpture thing that sticks out a good 6" or so; a full grown arowana would not be happy in there- not enough room to turn around properly.

Nope. It's a precision machining company. We make parts for Varian Oncology Systems' cancer treatment machines, stuff for NASA, some stuff for various national labs (Sandia, Livermore, etc.), stuff for Brainlab, etc.
