i have a penguin 125 that requires replacing when they get clogged. The cartridges have a plastic frame with carbon in it and blue flossy filter on one side. How would i make one that i can just take out and rinse off? Just stick a sponge in there?
I have a millenium 2000 filter that came with a tank I bought and I'm thinking the same thing. I ordered a 3x5x12 sponge from big al's. the filter chamber is 3x5xsomething so I plan to just cut the sponge to the right length and stick it in there. looks like it should work.
you can buy sheets of the floss thing and cut them to size and rubberband them on. i usually just stuff the entire filter with media. not too tight because it will restrict a lot of waterflow though.
