Hello all,

I found one of my female crabros dead yesterday and that was just the beginning of the strange to come.
Water checks out fine.
Today after watching my fiish for a little while I notice that my other female crabro seems to be suffering from a slimy break-out on her skin. At first I thought, "great does that fish have ick?"
Doesn't look right, it's not the typical white blotches that seem to make the fish scratch incessently but instead seem to look like a slimy bacteria.
All the other fish seem fine, and I haven't had any water temp. spikes or drops significant with ick.
Now, the kicker, watching this fish a while longer and I notice it with the male down in his nest and I'll be, but it is definately holding (eggs) as well.
SO, what should I do? I did treat my tank with Aquari-sol which treats for many things and have raised my tank temp just in case.
These two fish are quite active in the mating dance right now, so I am hesitant in removing the female.
I have a 10 gal tank, it is not currently setup.
Plus as anyone knows the stress involved in chasing a fish sick or otherwise around a large tank as mine, 135 gallons, would end it's hold or worse.
Advice anyone? Thanks, FG.

The sliminess of the skin could be any one of a variety of external protozoan parasites, such as Costia, Trichodina, or Chilodonella. Most of these respond to ich remedies, with some preference being given to the formalin-based treatments. Good luck.
