Ok i happen to live in texas and was wondering what area can you find these rocks. I dont really feal like paying 1.89 a pound for some at the LFS. when i could just take a day trip to collect a few myself.

Try the German Hill Country area. Like close to San Marcos. It's all over the place in the country side where the cattle pastures are.

Depends--I think the TX Holy rock has a calcium base, which means it's highly likely that it will alter your water parameters--hardness and pH. You can test the rock with some vinegar--if it bubbles, then it will, if there's no bubbling, it's most likely inert and will be fine to use. If you're setting up for African cichlids, or other hard water fish like mollies, it will be fine, but I wouldn't use it for a softwater setup.

OrionGirl is correct, yet again.

It is limestone and will raise your PH to a MINIMUM of 7.6, most likely higher. Perfect if you want to set up a Lake Malawi, or other African Cichlid, tank.

well scratch that idea then angles like water on the softer side. guess ill stick with hangin pot urns and driftwood.

Good news is that at least i can get the rocks pretty easy as san marcos is only 40 miles away.
