sink driftwood sink!!!

did you try boiling it.... sometimes that helps, though I've never been able to have a piece small enough to fit in a pot..... Are you weighing it down in the tank? I had a piece that I had soaking in a large bin and after 3 weeks, it still shot to the surface. What I did was, I went and got 3 big rocks, sat them on the edge of the slate that the wood was anchored to and sat it there like that. It's been quite a while and that thing still is a little wobbly if I remove the rocks.

I have a small-medium size peice of drift wood. It took me 6-8 hours straight of boiling and 4-5 weeks weighed down in a seperate tank just to get 70% of it to sink. I soaked it with salt too and that seemed to help after 3 weeks of it floating w/o the salt. Just make sure you rinse it very good before putting it in your tank.

yeah I did, to big for a pot too. I'm about to chain it up and drop it into my pool :D

I understand the frustration.... I'm not sure if you're serious or not but the pool wouldn't be a good idea because of the chemicals in there.... have patience ;) it'll get there, eventually.

I feel your pain...

I too am fighting with driftwood. However, a nice rock is holding down the un-slated end and it still looks nice.

So it can really take weeks?? Good thing I gave up after 12 hours and took it out of the bath tub :D

you ever wonder why it is called DRIFT wood??? LOL

maybe because it floats and drifts ???? LOL

anyways... I have found that the african root wood sinks immediately without any prep at all - though it still needs to be soaked to remove the yellow that comes out of it

a few weeks? whoa..... I still wouldn't trust mine to stay submerged without the rocks on it, and it's been close to a year, if not longer.....
