Two questions:

1) How deep is the pond?

2) How swift is your stream?

the pond is 2ft deep all over no shelfs in the pond just bog areas around it.

the pump is on fully and pumps 4500litres (~1020 uk gallons) an hour through the stream and a filter box. more of the water going to the stream then filter box. the flow through box is enough to keep bacteria and the water clean. its flow at the moment is 102gallon per hour

so the stream has the rest minus the head and friction in the pipe.
