How long can a 29 gal tank with 4 tiger barbs and a cory catfish go when experiencing a power outage?
And what does one do in situations like that?
Our power was only out overnight for 4-5 hours and as soon as it was light enough to see this morning, I changed 25% of the water. Then the power came back on....thankfully.
Thanks

I've had power out for even longer and not suffered any damages. I did dose the tank with Prime to detox ammonia and nitrites as soon as I found out the power was off. Cannister filters can go bad quickly but when it restarted I did not see any crap come out of the filters nor did the fish react. Temp changes can be a problem so in the future do pay attention to that also.

Here's a link about a very similar question I asked a couple weeks ago. Good info about power outages and aquariums.

Last year, my local power company built a $300 million natural gas fired electric power generation station about 1 mile from my house.
I better not lose power!
Of course, sometimes it happens, but the power is never out for very long; an hour or two at most.

Power outage revisited........
Major league ammonia spike in my tank. Farily cloudy water....really is annoying because the tank was doing SO well.
So I'm changing water every day, any other things I should know? I hope these **** fish don't die...I'm attached to them now.
Thanks
