Im builiding a 8ft x 3ft x 2ft Indoor Cichlid pond for my Severum, Jewel, Gouramis, Silver Dollars and other fish that i have in a 45 gallon tank. It will have more fish eventually but anyway my question is What Filter and what heaters should i use for this pond. Substrate will be a 2inch deep sand ( or whatever is best to use gravel whatever) Im on a budget and am looking not for a cheap filter but a filter thats worth the price and can get the job done right without me leaving without an arm or a leg. mojo has a pond that is abit smaller than the one you have planned, he may have some ideas on the filtration

You are looking at a 360 gallon tank there. Sorry to tell you that 2 Emporer 400 not nearly cut it. I would not use an Hang on the back filter like an Emporer on anything bigger then 125 gallons. I would look into a wet dry filter with a return pump that pumps at least 1600 gallons an hour
