if my plants will be fine sitting in a bucket of tank water for a few days??



Here why I asked.... I went yesterday and did a bi-weekly good cleaning of my 26g tank, nice size water change and gravel cleaning. After I was done and water started to clear up, I was looking at the tank and did not see one of my otto's. Started looking all over the tank like crazy and could find him. So I gave up last night and thought that he was just hiding and will look for him this morning same thing still couldn't find him and started to wonder if I covered him up when cleaning the gravel. So I went and took out some water out and put it into a 5 g bucket put my fish in there. Then I put some water and plants in a smaller bucket and there he was alive... TG

Now I don't really want to have to put the plants back in the tank because in a few days I will be getting some Pure Laterite by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals from Foster&Smith it mix in with my gravel for my plants. I don't want to replant them to day and in a few days up root them and replant again.. So I was wondering if they will be fine in the bucket of tank water until I get the stuff???

They should be fine in the bucket. Often when I remove a bunch of plants, for one reason or another, I have to leave them in a bucket for a few days while deciding how/where to replant them. I have not experienced any negative results when doing this. Even my Crypts. seem unfazed by the delay.
I would suggest, however, that you try not to leave them sit in water that will get too much colder or stale during the waiting period. I usually change off at least 1/2 the water in the bucket per day with tank water to reduce shock and maintain some equilibrium between bucket and tank.
If uncomfortable with this, you could just float them in the tank while awaiting your laterite.
When you introduce the laterite, bury it way down deep into the substrate so that it will have little chance of getting into the water table. This will greatly reduce the chances for algae issues later.
