Hi mudvayne,

you may get more responses if posting this in General Freshwater instead of in this CatFish section...

any way, I have had spiney eel with convicts and fries before and the eel, with its natural behavior, will try to stalk and hunt down the fries occasionally (may be more during the night). The convict parents will defend the fries furiously and may kill the eel (depending on size), or will stress/hurt the eel to the point of it getting fungus and dies...Of course, if the eel is large enough (tiretrack, fire eel species), then not just the babies, but the convict parents will become snacks for the eel.

You do need special set up for the eel: sandy or fine gravel bottom. lot of hiding place and absolutely no holes or cracks in the tank cover. All Eels are escape artists! Also, you can feed the convict with preety much anything (flake, pellets), but the eel will only eat meaty or live food. regards,
