Hi,

I got a 5g tank about 4 weeks ago... I have been through the cycle, although as this is my first ever tank I only hope I did everything correctly!!

I have a filter and Light in the tank with 2 live plants and 2 fake.

I got my first fish today and just wanted to know if they are all going to be ok..

I have:

4 ghost shrimp
7 Red Eyed Tetra
5 Neons

The fish shop said these would be good together and the shrimps help keep the tank clean...

Is this ok? I am a bit worried about the Tetra as they just sit under a plant and dont move about much? Does this mean the light is too much for them? The tank temp is 78.

Thanks guys & gals

I would have those fish ideally in a 20 gallon tank with a couple of bottom feeders.

I too started a tank 3 years ago of 5 gallons with 3 guppies, an algae eater and 6 tetras. The tetras just fluttered under the heater and only moved to eat their food.

1 year later the survivors were moved to a 20 gallon and they swim all over the place now and are doing great.

Those fish will probably get along and not fight or chase as they are over crowded in their and that tends to reduce aggression. But it also means you will end up loosing a lot of those fish due to water spikes (ammonia, nitrite, pH crashes).

Best advice is massive water changes a minimum of twice a week.
