What water did you originally put in the tank if not tap water? That will make the difference of how to start doing water changes because the parameters may be very different.

Do you know if your tapwater contains Chloramine in it? I'm not familiar with "Life Cycle" so I have no idea if it removes chloramine. Read on the label to see if it does.

Some areas use chloramine to treat their water(Mine does), and others just use chlorine. Chlorine will gas off within 24 hours whether you add anything to it or not. But chloramine won't. You have to add something to get rid of it (I use Tetra Aqua Safe).

You can find out by calling your water treatment center or, I'm sure a local LFS will know.
