Heres the story - I set up a 25g tank for some kind of Tilapia fish, and added 3 banana plants, an algae eater and a striped raphiel cat. About 3 days after adding it all, i noticed a few tiny baby fish swiming at the top of the tank. I took the 11 that were there and put them in a fry net. I thought they were some how Talapia babies (they hold eggs in their mouths). But anyway, they were doing fine in the net for a few weeks, eating liquifry then crumbled flake. I took them out today to move them to their own tank that has been waiting, and i was able to get a good look at them, (throught the net is a blur), and found out that i have baby Giant Danios.!
So, are Danios egg layers or live bearers?
I'm thinking that maybe there were eggs on the banana plant.
or
I had four 3" giant danios in my 55G, but my Dempsey ate all but one. I did take an aqua clear off 300 of the 55 to use on the 25, and i only changed the carbon.
Maybe there were fry, or eggs in the filter that found their way out, but the danios in the 55 were small.
Anyway, any hints on this mystery?

danio fry

Less than a week after buying Zebra Danios to cycle my tank I noticed that the female danio was big as a golf ball and the next morning she was back to regular size (i didn't have a breeder tank setup), but I couldn't find the eggs. Since then I've learned that the female Danio will eat the eggs if she is not remove from the tank. Danios are a egg scatter and the eggs will fall to the bottom of the tank. I'm not sure where your eggs come from, hard to say.
