hi there...
i just got my first tank its about 45-50 gallons dont really know..
but i made the biggest mistake :S i bought 2 fire eels at the same time.. i didnt read up on all this stuff be4.. and now that i did i'm so worried...
one of my eels have black spots and is kinda pale !!! what is going on ?
i've been changing the water about 20-30% every other day.. i just bought the tank on friday .. so i dont want high ammonia levels...the PH levels are ok,, but the ammonia test read( .2 ).
i got two plants but i dont know there types are  its really hard to know what your getting here in KUWAIT !!
other then that my eels arent eating at all.. maybe its just the new tank ? i dont know .... can any one help ?
:sad :sad :sad

Any ammonia is bad but .2 is not an extremely high amount. I do however, suggest you do water changes every day instead of every other day, until your tank is cycled.

As for the spots and paleness.....That sounds like a disease to me, but I'm not sure. I highly doubt it's a direct effect of ammonia poisioning. It may have stressed the eel out enough to allow the disease to blossom though.

To Identify the disease, if it is a disease, I'd go to aquariumfishguy's site and find out what it is.

i found this...
black spots are sign of Ammonia spikes in the water that burns the skin,, and the black spots are signs of healing, and i need big water changes daily... or its a desease they got from snails and i dont have snails ... so WHEEW that was close..
for the pailness, it says thats from stress.. so i guess i should just wait for that to go..... just hope it aint nothing worse
i really love my babies :)
thnx guys for the sites they were SOOO helpfull, DEFFINITLY ADDED TO FAVOURITES !
