What size are the typical male and female endler? I mean adults of course but an aproximat range would help... thinking of some for a small (5 gal) tank. and don't want to put them in there if it would be to small for them

The males stay really small, like under an inch. Females about the size of female guppies, probably around an inch and a half.
I think 1-2 males and 3-4 females would be fine in a 5. They are quite small fish but reproduce easily.

I have 4 endlers with 4 Neons in a 5g tank and they get along great. I onlt have male endlers and they're .5-.75 inches long.
I keep Endlers. I have a colony of them in a 20 gallon long. Everyone is right in saying that they are tiny. The males are only about 3/4 of an inch when full grown and the females are about an inch and half. The problem with them is that if you keep males and females you are going to have WAY to many fish in your 5 gallon REALLY quick. LOL They reproduce like CRAZY. LOL
Your best bet would be to keep maybe 6 or so males in your 5 gallon. it would be a beautiful colorful tank, and you wouldn't have to worry about them spawning and overpopulating your tank.

A 5 gallon is pretty small so unless it is very densely planted I think most babies will get eaten anyways.
Actually, Endlers aren't really known for eating their fry. One or two from a spawn might get eaten, but more will survive then get eaten. So very quickly the tank will be seriously overpopulated. Going with a all male tank would be much better in one that size.

we have 2 males and 6 females in a 10 but they are still young. Like Kelly said, I've heard the endlers are not likely to eat their young like guppies would be so you'll likely have fry but if you get aquainted with an aquarium club or find a good LFS I'm sure you can get rid of them. Endlers are quite popular among experiened aquariasts and fairly sought after. Kyle
ya I know that any livebearer would over populate a 5 in time...
now that I know that I can have the heterandria formosa I will be getting some of those instead of the endlers.
if I had gotten endlers I would be culling most of the young anyway. I have a angelfish, betta and ram that would love babies for lunch since I don't have the room to deal with lots of adults.
I am not looking to grow feeders it is just that I know a few fish out of many in a small space is better for the individule in that situation.

Dang, if you lived in MN, i would have set you up with Heterandria formosa and Endlers. I feel that a 5 is way to small for Endlers, I prefer keeping them in a 15 gallon plant tank. That is when their colors are at the best.
But a great place to get them at is at alloddballaquatics.com for about $5 a pair. I ordered mine from that site over a year ago and they were fantastic fish, breeding constantly for me (causing me to place them in a 29 gallon tank).
