We have a lot of people here at aquaria central and many of them, myself included have usernames that most evertone else will not understand. So what does your user name mean if you don't mind telling the story.

Watcher74

Mine is a current evolution of a monicer I've used on the net for several years. Watcher is a shortening of "One Who Watches".
I don't know if anyone here remembers an old site called opendiary.com? Well, back in '99 it was occupied by a lot of fascinating diaries from people all over the world, then it got too large, the owners started charging and messing with it, and all the good journal owners slinked away.
I started a diary in '99 with an author name of One Who Watches that was battling homicidial tendencies(boy, people are going to think me a freak now) and started writing a series of short stories about a tortured serial killer plaqued by a demon/halucination(you were always wondering which one it was, even I haven't figured it out yet) by that name. In self defense I have written numerous stories with all types of personalities. This one just seemed to get the most attention from the online audience.
My sister-in-law wrote a poem about me with the title of observer. Look in the dictionary and it has in brackets right next to Observer [One Who Watches].
Then that d*mn movie with Keanu Reeves named "The Watcher" came out a year later and I look like a copy cat with my subject matter and title. *sigh* Totally different story line though.
Like I'm ever going to be able to publish it.
Watcher- what about the 74? Did I miss that part in your post?
Vato- you didn't explain your's! :D
Mine's the name of my younger sister's previous betta. I named the betta after a car (as I was naming everything after cars at that time for some reason... Vitara is a car name, too), but later discovered the car's title was actually "Rav 4". No surprise, since my eyesight's not too good.
I would've attempted to be more creative, but I was in a hurry when I first came upon the site, as I believe I needed help for Rava's bubble eye or something. :)

Watcher- what about the 74? Did I miss that part in your post?
74 is the year I was born. There is already a "watcher" here. He's been here for 8 months and has made a grand total of 10 posts.
Kinda irritating.
Well my username has little to no reason to it really.
A friend of mine started my first e-mail account a number of years ago, He chose the address as a word I made up in, I think, grade 3. And, at that time, my password was vato. The reson behind the password being that?...Well he like a band who had a song that's name was Hey Vato. So I used that as my username when I registered here using it because it was easy and original.

Mine is one of my kids name: Tyler
and the rest is one of my kids B'day: 718 (July 18th)
So nothing really extravagent (sp?) to my user name.
Snake Eyez
07-06-2004, 9:28 PM
My favorite GI Joe character. The first place I needed a username I chose Snake Eyes, but that was already taken. So I changed the s to a Z and it's stayed with me through various forums.

I was hanging out in a forum when they decided to make everyone register and assume names at login (to keep certain others from masquerading as local posters)
A lot of people started off as anon1, anonamous2, anongirl, etc. and so I started with "anona" as my online "persona". And, um, it sort of rhymes, so it was just a shade more clever than all the other "anon"s.
I almost picked anonanon, but I thought they would flame me for talking too much... (ba-dum-bump)

I'm madly in love with all of the big cat species...I adore the life/sharpness you can see in their eyes (can't explain it), how smart and cunning they are, their majesty, how feisty they can be, and the perfection of their bodies that are absolutely honed for what they do. I love how they can be fierce and predatorial one minute, then go lay down in the shade and lick each other and nap on their backs with their feet up in the air the next. They're just magnificent animals...and I like them:) I also love animal print (faux, never real!!!) fabrics and whatnot and seem to have accumulated a fair deal of leopard/tiger oriented things. I was torn between Lioness, Tigress, etc but I just went with the Leopard. And well, I'm female, so Leopardess was born.
Some "proof" of my obsession with these animals :p
A paint by number I did awhile ago:
http://members.aol.com/chris420529/bigcats.JPG
And a big painting I had to have from Bombay & Co. I still need to get the matching painting that is the from-behind version.

Too bad they'll all probably be extinct within a decade or two because of the incredible greed and selfishness of many people. But anywho....

I wish! I've always said that at some point, I will have an animal refuge for large cats and exotics. I'll need to move down south to allow for warmer outside temps, but I'm all for it:D
But, I mean, house cats aren't truly domesticated...and I've got two of them roaming about:p. You will never convince me that this cat doesn't think he's King of the Jungle...Look in those eyes!

hey tyler718 your kid has the same birthday as me!! I guess all people with their birthday on 18th July are special
Although a new member, I will explain my handle..
Cunch was given to me by my hockey team back in the 1990's, it was originally "Big Country" because I always won my fights and never got knocked down... :D But calling me that on the ice was way to long, so someone shortened it down to Country ---> And eventually an even lazier teamate shortened it the name to "Cunch." That name has stuck with me over my years of hockey from the minors to the pros! I do believe its the shortest version of Big Country out there!!!

Just look at my Avatar.. :)
I had some good times watching those movies.. :)
Well, my name when I first signed up here was, BigMamaGuppy. Because I'm a mom, with four kids. And well, you know the saying about guppies and breeding. ;)
Anyway, Lila Boffins is my hobbit name, from the hobbit name generator. I like it, though I would like to drop the Boffins. I know it would possibly erase my account history to change my name, so I just leave it in.
Oh well.

So, would it be safe to say that you discounted "Cougar" right off the bat?;) :D

Dwayne was a betta I had at work in my cube. He was the most beautiful betta I had ever seen (and have yet to see another one like him) - he was dark purple with fins that were the longest I've ever seen on a betta, and they were shaped like a lyretail molly's tail.) I really liked him, he was just about the only bright spot here and, no lie, he'd swim to the front of the bowl just about every morning looking for his food!
I had Dwayne for 2 1/2 years, and took him home with me when I went on maternity leave, where he died when my son was about 2 weeks old. He had a good, long life though. And he lives on in my username :D

Hmmm, maybe that term is more coloquial than I thought. But I've heard it from Ontario to here refering to older women who trawl the bars for younger men. Most stereotypically (though not necessarily) wearing leopard print pants and big hair. It's almost always used in a joking and good natured manner.
Sensei_the_dojo

My coolest fish to date was a dojo loach named Sensei. Sensei is title given to a karate master and a dojo is a karate school. I'm not into karate, but this fish had lots of personality.
By the way "vato" is closer in meaning to "dude" or "homeboy" than it is to "friend".

LOL okay:) I believe you:D I thought there was some obvious play on words that I was missing. And to clear the record...I don't wear leopard print pants, I don't have big hair, I don't go in bars, and I'm not looking for any men, so I think I'm off the hook:p:D

Used to be obsessed with MechWarrior3 and though the battlemech "Puma" was the coolest looking one. Ward is a bloodname from Clan Wolf from the Battletech and Mechwarrior RPGs, book series, and videogames.

rosita
05-06-2007, 8:04 PM
My great-grandmother, a strong Cherokee from Oklahoma, raised 13 kids of her own and my mom. Then helped me and my sister get started. Her name was Rose; I named my first Tennessee Walking Horse baby Rose, after her. She has several nicknames, one of which is Rosita. In honor of Rose. . . . Ramblin' Rose, Rosebud, Rosie, RoRoRosie, Rosamund . . . .

Everyone I work with has called me Kimmie for the last 4 years...and then it got switched to MEE-MEE....When I would have food up in the cook's window I would always say meemee after that and then it stuck......
ryuku32
05-06-2007, 8:54 PM
i chat on irc. my nickname was taken twice. a friend suggested "ryuku". He said it's japanese for dragon or something. i think it's spelled wrong anyway... when i signed up for free webmail it was taken as well. the 32 was because at the time i was tinkering with Intel assembler programming and having a fight with 32-bit protected mode. i just use ryuku32 everywhere so i don't have to remember which name i used!

my husband and I sell nova parts on ebay. he is jinkzd and to reduce confusion to buyers/bidders i chose msjinkzd. This way they have a clue when i am the one answering questions. also jinkzd was the tag on my 63nova until i got too cheap to pay for vanity tags.
Mine is my name, shortened. It got shortened when I was a kid playing Chrono Trigger, because the name entry only allowed five characters.

childhood nickname drawn from my surname...and my father and his father before him lol and no one of my friends has called me anything else since.
basically in ireland they take either your first or last name and add "er" "o" or "ie" and that's you tagged for life.
legendaryfrog
05-07-2007, 8:04 PM
Well, I heard my nephew once say legendaryfrog or something of the sort and decided to use it as my username for AC!!
My next option, would be to use the user ID, "Twitch", as that was my nickname in college. Why, you ask? Well, it was sometime as a freshman at the University of Chicago that I discovered a little miracle drug called modafinil. It's main purpose was to increase productivity, decrease tiredness, and extend your work day to about 20 hours. Side effects were an effect similar to an extreme caffiene-high. Thus, the nickname Twitch.
