Checked the Home Depot in Tannersville PA and in Allentown. Nearest Lowes I could find is 45 minutes away. Do I even have any other options? I need minimum of 50 lbs of white sand. I have some quikrete play sand in my freshwater tank but its not too good, is brown, has a consistency closer to mud than sand.

I need the stuff that looks like it came out of an hourglass. You know, good..

If its just these two home depots are dumb then I could call some others around

Ive only found it at one home depot near me (tried three)

the third still has two pallets of SD left

I went in with a bunch of people and had a pallate (sp?) shipped to Missouri! It took awhile to find a manager willing to order it but we eventually got it done. Hopefully you wont have as much trouble!

You don't need HD for aragonite. Go to purearagonite.com on the web and you can get 200# for 100.00. This stuff is pure white and really nice looking. I don't have a HD around for mile and when I contacted them they told me not all have this and the only place I could find it was in the south and at specific times in the year.

Took me 5 stores to finally find some for my new tank. They don't stock the stuff over the winter, so you have to find a store with leftover bags on hand. There's a SKU number you can call ahead with. I don't know what it is anymore, but I'm sure someone does.

I have close to 100lbs extra if you wanna come get it. I'm in Hudson County, NJ.

Uh, found southdown in Conshohocken PA near Philly. Thank you all for your help. Was 4.99 per 50lb bag and white as can be without looking fake.

Also I found out they are stationed locally in Easton PA which would have saved me some time. I don't care though, I got the bags and thats what matters :)

Home Depot & Tropical Playsand by Southdown

Talked to the people at Home Depot. They are not able to carry Tropical Playsand by Southdown anymore. Southdown found out that they can make a killing in the pet industry with the stuff and get more money for it so will not be selling to Home Depot anymore :(
