HOLY COW!!!
"Ken Jennings continues to make television history! On Wednesday, July 7TH Ken scored a huge one day total of $40,000. He's now won 26 games and $828,960."
He must be running out of suits to wear on the show!! The shows were taped way back in February, and he is sworn to secrecy about how long he goes on for.... can he last the month of July???

I heard on the radio this morning that some local stations are getting calls complaining about him and asking when he's going to lose because they can't stand looking at him anymore and are boycotting the show until he loses... lol!!
GO KEN!!!!

I dont know either. Leo - could it be his teethy smile? Thats rather annoying...
... anyway, I do not watch jeopardy, mainly because I have to pretend to listen to my grandmother 700 miles away talk to me on the phone all about the show. Ugh...

I think he's doing an amazing job, and winning lots of money. The guy is very good--he seldom rings in if he doesn't know, and he doesn't go for the big money each show.
Alex challenged him last night to try for the longest time being a contestant on a show--46 days, from a guy who was on Tic Tac Dough many years back. Ken won't try for the biggest single day win, but he might make this!

You know what, call me slow but it just now dawned on me...
... Could this be a set up, to get people to watch a played out game show that has had meager ratings lately?
... Similar to Who Wants to be a Millionaire when they made the jackpot 10 million??
I began to wonder this as I saw myself checking the TV Guide for the time that Jeopardy will be on tonight. :o

Well, that dates me then. Jeopardy is my fav. show. I didn't know people didn't like Ken. It seems he knows a little bit about every thing. And his reflexes are lightening fast.
Who wants to be a millionaire is a dumb, dumb show.

Opinions, Opinions. :D
I agree though, I hate most all reality TV shows... if you can even call them reality shows.
However, none of us would be calling these money-making game shows "dumb" if we were on them. :p

I does not surprise me that Jeopardy's ratings might be in decline. It is the last of the "intelligent" game shows.
Because watching the show might actually required a few synapses to fire in the brain, most TV viewers pass on Jeopardy, and run to the TV guide to find out when "Wheel of Fortune", or "Hollywood Squares" will be on.
Television these days is 99% trash.
Turn it off, watch you aquarium!

True true...
...however, never compare Hollywood Squares with Wheel of Fortune. No way, those are two different shows and it wouldn't suprise me if two different sections of the brain are used on the shows as they sare so different. :)
H2 Squares is very interesting at times, it does make you think its just not the "Politically Correct" version of what is a smart question.

I love Wheel of Fortune! But then again, I'm the nerd you see on the subway with a Puzzle Magazine and pencil every day!!! I think as far as game shows go, Wheel and Jeopardy take quite a bit of intelligence to play. Another one is Name that Tune (oldie, but goodie)... I can name that tune in one note. Oooh, and the $25,000 Pyramid. You have to think fast, and not use your hands in the final round.
GO KEN GO!!
On the Monday, July 12TH edition of JEOPARDY! Ken Jennings inched closer to hitting the one million dollar mark. With $972,960 in his bank, can he reach seven figures? Tune in to see!

I went to a Jeopardy try-out a couple of years ago. I couldn't BELIEVE how many people were there! It was held at a large car dealership, and there were people snaking through the whole lot. I think I stood in line for about 2 hours, and there were still tons of people behind me.
Unfortunately, I didn't pass the written test, so no Jeopardy for me. Do any of you know the answer to this question that was on my test?

Well - I just watched Jeopardy, and Ken has got over 1 million! I believe it is $1,004,000.
... I do not remember the hundreds amount, but its 4000 and something.
He seems cocky. Maybe it is because he's been on TV for so long, and on multiple TV shows (Dave Letterman for one)... but he is calling the game show host by his first name, and he clapped when the man on the opposite side climbed out of the hole.
He's getting a little high en mighty I'd say. :p

I think he 'earned' the right to be a little cocky.:D
aquariumfishguy
07-13-2004, 8:43 PM
Yeah, or it could ruin him in the end. I noticed his "slipping up" on a few questions, most likely because he really didn't know them but still pushed the buzzer immediately.
Yet and still, he won lots today. :D

07-14-2004, 4:25 PM
It gets kind of boring when people are not even close to him and have no chance, which has been the last few times I have watched.
I only saw one person, an older lady, have a chance to beat him in final jeopardy near the start of his streak. Any others that I missed?
aquariumfishguy
07-14-2004, 6:09 PM
Yeah I wouldn't want to play knowing he was "on the loose". Like I said, yesterday one person had a few grand, and the other guy managed to crawl out of debt, so it is pretty boring. I also thought the questions are getting much easier, compared to when I used to watch it 10+ years ago. Hmmmm

Ken update!
On Wednesday, July 14, Ken Jennings made his 31ST consecutive appearance on JEOPARDY! and won an additional $17,500, claiming once again the title of reigning champion. Ken has earned $1,022,460 since his run began on June 2ND.
GO KEN GO!!
Leopardess
07-15-2004, 2:07 PM
He almost lost it last night. At several points, the other contestants were either tied with him or surpassed him in money. The very last question on the board was answered by Ken which allowed him to just pass double the amount of the contestant closest to him.
He's been hitting the buzzer before he's even sure of the answer.
dwayne
07-15-2004, 2:08 PM
I have yet to see him play.... sounds like he's getting cocky!

07-15-2004, 2:25 PM
Since he's getting so cocky, after he loses and runs out of money he will have had a major 'change'. I've heard of a guy who won like $128,000 on the GSN show press your luck because he memorized the pattern. He ended up getting a divorce with his wife. she seemed pretty sweet. But get this: all SHE got for herself & her kids was $5,000!!!

I can't voutch for the validity of the statements made in the article. The dates listed in the article don't jive for me.

Hmmm that article worries me... you are right, it doesn't make sense. If he makes it to the 41-42nd taping, then he wouldn't make it all the way into September.
I don't consider that a spoiler, but read it for yourself.

I am so frickin tired of Ken Jennings.
I watch the show almost everyday, this started when I was in the dorms and that was the only interesting show on tv. I've had to see him for 30 some odd shows now, and I can't stand him. The worst thing about it is that him and Alex have all these inside jokes with eachother now, like "I knew you were going to wager that much, its like I can read your mind..." Basically, Alex is not funny, and that's why he's the host of the show.
I think Jeopardy was kinda rigged for him, because like someone said the question did seem easier, and his competition was nothing. But I think the hype of it all is starting to fade (like sportcenter including Ken in the top 10!!!! Kill me!) So hopefully he will lose soon. Sorry, maybe I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist.

If that article is true I am going to live in a hole away from tv like Saddam until september.
aquariumfishguy
07-16-2004, 9:16 AM
Yeah but it doesn't make sense because if he only makes it to the 41-42nd taping, how would that carry him into September? This would mean he would have like 8 or 9 more shows to do.... the math doesn't add up.
Leopardess
07-16-2004, 5:59 PM
I'm aware that he's not a betting-man, being Mormon and all, but is he purposely avoiding breaking, rather than tying, the most amount won at one time record? He's tied it twice, and has had several opportunities to surpass it. Today he had something like 40,000$ going into the final jeopardy question and the 2nd place contestant had something like 4,000$. Yet, he only bet 10,000$.
Down with Ken!:p

Well, today was the last day of the new season. They're playing reruns for the next six weeks...which may validate that Jeopardy link posted a few posts back.
AND, he finally surpassed the one day record.
aquariumfishguy
07-23-2004, 8:30 PM
He made $75,000 on todays show, which is yet again a new record. The most ever won was $52,000 and he has now surpassed that.
The mans a freak, who can stop him? They did mention something about the season ending on Jeopardy soon. When does this occur, and for how long will we see re-runs?
I do not remember Jeopardy ever ending seasons, but I guess they do?

Yep. He starts back when they go back to the "new" season after 6 weeks - and if that link is true, he finishes around Sept 8 or 9 near the 42nd straight appearance. The math on that seems to be right....

07-24-2004, 2:37 PM
