Drs. Foster & Smith no longer put them in their magazine, and the only ones they sell are clearance ones, the 150 and 100 watt ones.
big als is still selling them, but no longer sells the 300 watt ones.

I don't know of them going out of business, but I wouldn't be surprised. If you really want some I can mail them to you, we still get them in at work.

yea the stores around here still have alot of them in stock.
I just dont understand why they stopped being sold/supplied. I havent heard anything about Hagen having troubles.

Hagen is re-doing a lot of their products (Aquaclear, etc) maybe they decided they no longer need them?
Our Tronics sell terribly. We sell mostly Penn-Plax's and Ebo-Jagurs.

weird... I have one 200w in my 55 and it keeps the temp remarkably stable for having one heater. I thought they were a great value. not having to worry about sticky contacts is nice too.
Yes Tronic heaters did go off the market a couple of years ago now. There are, however enough out there to supply fish stores who are willing to find them. The Tronics in my store sell very poorly as well, being beat out by visa-therms and ebo Jagars where I am.

Hagen still has them on their site so...
Maybe they are just waiting until the inventory is all gone.

It's worth noting that the 300W model no longer appears on Hagen's site, so that wattage may have been phased out.
As for the entire Tronic line going off the market (or having been off the market for two years  ) -- after getting worked up for that "no more Jagers in the U.S." nonsense, I'll reserve judgment until I hear it from the source. I sent an e-mail to Hagen -- I'll post the response here if/when they reply.
AC sure is eager lately to write the obituaries for aquarium heaters -- watch your back, Visi-Therm!

Here's what I sent to Hagen:
"I read on an Internet message board that Tronic heaters are going off the market. Is Hagen still producing and shipping its Tronic line of heaters? Thanks in advance for your reply."
Here's the short-and-sweet reponse I received today:
"Dear John,
As far as I am aware, we have no plans to discontinue the Tronic line of heaters.
Thank you,
Sharon Emond, Customer Service Dept.
Rolf C. Hagen (USA) Corp."

lol, more misinformation from people on AC.
Honestly guys, if you dont know the facts, dont act like you do.
Anyways, I guess drs. foster & smith decided not to sell them anymore, and hagen stopped making the 300 watt unit. Other than that, everything is normal I suppose.

Thank you very much TPIRman for getting the word from the source. I also noticed, as you posted, that the 300w were not on the site. Perhaps they are the only ones that bit the bullet.
I would imagine if they had been taken off the market "two years ago" your source would have found out by now.
slipknottin, I hope you did not take my post about them still being on the site as verification that they were no longer being manufactured. I was reporting that they were still on the site and offering a possible explanation for that IF vato's response was accurate. Sorry if I misled you in any way. :(

You didnt say anything in your post that was false.
Nope I was incorrect. I asked the man who runs the store that I used to work in, and his supplier stopped runing the tronic line in exchange for the visa-therm line. He was saying that the reason for the switch is that Tronics were outdated for the price that Hagen were charging so they switched over.
