Greetings,
I have a Penguin 170 filter on my 20g tank, and an Eclipse 6 system. I do water changes on both tanks about 1x/week. They have been up and running since 2/04, and I've changed the filter in each one time since then, about 3 weeks ago.
At this time, both filters are functioning oddly. The Penguin filter is taking in so much water, it can't flow through the filter fast enough, and lots tends to flow back out over the intake tube. In the Eclipse, the water is now not only running over the folded tab, but over the entire filter reservoir, and back into the tank without having been filtered.
I've read my manuals, and checked Marineland's site. Other than cleaning all the filter equipment, which I've done, they don't really indicate what to do. I rinse the filters out when I do water changes to get out the extra debris, but I don't understand why they are so clogged so as to slow the water flowing through to such a degree.
If anyone has any experience with this or can offer any suggestions or advice, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks in advance.
Margaret
