My first Harlequin tusk was a happy well manered fish that was eating like a champ at the LFS. I put my deposit on him and watched him for a few weeks. I went to look at him several times a week looking for signs of disease. When I was satisfied, I had my water tested at the LFS and took my prize home. After a week or two, he was doing great and eating fine. I was so proud I decided to take some pictures. He didn't like that very much. I tried to not use the flash but they didnt' come out very much, so I took a few with the flash. He freaked out and I stopped. (It's hard to take a good pic of a swimming fish with a digital camera)

A few days later he was very sick and died a week later. I was just wondering if the flash or the pictures could have caused him to get sick, or was this just pure coincidense. I know the LFS had some parasites in their water because I almost bought a Coral Beauty but he had ich and they put a cleaner shrimp in with him, so I changed from the CB to the Tusk. But the water all went to the same place.

btw- I now have my second Tusk in my new quarantine tank along with an exquisite wrasse. They get along well and are eating fine. They should be in their new home in another week or so.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know that a tank with ich should remain fallow for at least 6 weeks.

I take pics of my tank all the time and haven't stressed a fish yet.

My fish don't notice the flash. I took a series of the clowns spawning and they didn't even pause.

You can shoot fish without the flash if you have intense enough light. Just set the ASA to 400 and expect a lot of shots of the tail as it disappears.
