found some babies in a tank that contained 2 black stripe tetra 1 female guppy and a male betta .... and some new plants

that was over a month ago
13 went to 5 over night (obviously eaten)
5 went to 1 over the period of a week in a cycled tank of their own

no big deal ...except that at one month the one that is left is still the size of a new fry

i had originally thought that the guppy may have gotten pregnant after delivering her last babies (i took her out of the tank with the male guppies 2 days after her delivery as i don't like them to have more than 2 deliveries and that was her 2nd)
but it is definately not growing like a guppy

wippit thought that it might be the tetra or that there were eggs on the plants that we had gotten

anyone know of a fish that has such a long fry period?

I am not saying that one baby is a guppy, but, aren't guppies, like most live bearers, capable of storing sperm so that from one mating you can get at least 3 sets of fry?

If the temp of your fry tank is too low it can slow the growth of the fry.

I had something like this happen to one of my mollies. He was definately a mollie, he just wasn't growing. He stayed the same size his whole life.

I think it was the size of my tank, I only had a ten gallon, not much room to grow and my temp was kinda low for their liking.

It more then likely is a guppy, try putting him in a bigger tank, with plenty of circulating water, bubbles the whole shabang, and raise the tank temp level, see if it grows then.

i already did this a month ago ... and nothing

it looks like a baby guppy but then again so do a lot of fish
i will try to upload something when i get home

i tried for hours to get a pic of the little guy that looked more than an orange blobby streak with no luck
he/she is silvery-grey with an orange stomach ...it actually looks like you are seeing his actual stomach through his body
and a big black eye ... disportionatly big for his body

well this one seems to be holding on to live
