Well, after I checked that bag my banana plant came in last week and found a snail shell, I was kinda afraid I might have more hitchikers... and about 5 minutes ago I just found the first one crawling on the front of my aquarium (inside, obviously). So, I know clown loaches usually make quick work of snails, but should I take a scraper and knock it off onto the gravel, or will one of my clowns find him where he is a few inches off the bottom?

Nevermind... question answered. The lights have been out for a while, and I walked in there just now and turned on a table lamp across the room and saw my smallest clown helping himself to a free snack. So far that's the first snail I've seen, and I hope it will be the last.

Well apparently that one was a sign of things to come. Last night, I saw two more..... this morning they're gone. I've already talked to my wife and told her not to feed the fish today... that they'll only get one small meal right before we go to bed, because I think we've been overfeeding, and I think that's why the snails are showing up.

Oh well, as long as the loaches keep sucking them down, I guess I can't complain too much.

Clown Loaches and snails

I've yet to find a more efficient means of ridding my tanks of snails than clown loaches. They make quick work of them, usually in less than a day (if, as you say, they are hungry and not over-fed.) The only thing that MIGHT be somewhat bothersome is if the snails get somewhere the clown loaches can't get and set up a colony, such as in the filter box.
Aside from you posting 3 times and basically answering your own question (maybe you're hyper?), what's wrong with snails? They're a part of a natural ecology. Jusy my 2 cents, but I love snails and wish I could keep them. Alas, I have clown loaches, too, and cannot.
