Can Hornwort be "planted" in the substrate to keep it in one place? I have read that it isn't supposed to be buried, but when I had some in my pond I was told to bury a small part of it. Thanks all.
Yes you can. Just make sure you trip off all the needle leaves off it so they don't rot in the substrate and create a mess..then just stick the stem down in the gravel...Good luck
Thank you for the replys. I did as you said and removed the needles and loosely secured them under the gravel. They look great! How fast does this stuff grow? I left the lights on for a couple nights in a row, and I think it grew about an inch! I was originally planning to add a floating plant like Watersprite, but I think I might just wait a while longer and harvest some Hornwort and let it float free. The live plants look so much better then the artificial. I have attached a picture. I am still planning on adding a background.

Also I want to say that I have enjoyed tremendously looking at your tanks and they have provided lots of inspiration.
With decent lighting this stuff grows REALLY FAST! It's not so unusual to go to bed and wake up the next morning and find you need to do some trimming....
