hey, I bought two convicts that I thought were male and female, but now im not so sure. one is darker than the other, with pointier fins, but the fins part could have nothing to do with it because they were picked on pretty heavily at the store. so anyway, the dark one chases the light one, and they flare thir gill plates at each other. theyre both about the same size, 1 inch long. just young ones.

No pink.

the female doesnt have any pink or anything on her belly, or the one that I think is a female, that is. the other one thats darker chases that one all over. help? please?!

Make sure you have hiding spots for the fish being chased to retreat to.

Since your fish are young it will be more difficult to sex them...however, you still shouldnt have too much of a problem.

Both sexes have the same colouring.
Female - orange/golden on their tummy (this indicates they are sexually mature)
Males - generally larger than the female.....longer and pointed dorsal and anal fins. As they get older the male will develope a hump on his head
