It is definately an african cichlid. which versino of blue electric? it is hard to tell as this is a jeuvenile.

He was called an electric blue at the aquarium. I guess I might have to wait til he gets bigger to properly id him. Thanks scholar!

Most times the fish sold as electric blue haps at petstores(and even some LFS)are some sort of hybrids and not pure S.fryeri.

I'm not sure S.fryeri has any yellow. There is a Ice berg variety but i think that is a white blaze on its forehead not yellow.

What type of a store did you buy this guy at?

I'm pretty confident that it is S. fryeri also incorrectly known as S. ahli in the hobby. The yellowish anal fin will develop a bit more red as the fish matures. Speaking of mature, how big is the fish? If it less than 4" it is probably hormoned and will lose its blue color without the continued hormone treatments. Once the fish does mature the color will return.
