Hi! You have all been so helpful in my dilema with water quality.
My water is very hard with 0 KH, PH of 8 or so, and high phosphates. Makes me want to go back to RO.
I have successfully increased the KH to 5 to 6 with crushed coral
Have two pop bottles CO2 (32 bubbles per minute)
Amonia is 0
Nitrate is very low
Cannot locate a phosphate test kit but will
CO2 test kit registers within range
PH is 7.8
I have added new plants and they are growing but are slowly getting brown algae. I am cleaning and removing algae each week I am using flourish sparingly and flourish tabs.
I am planning additional planting when the chemistry is perfect. I don't know how to get the PH down without chemical. Should I go back to RO water and add RO Right? My fish like low PH. If I have to how do you lower the phosphates?
