I'm looking at getting an acrylic tank. Any reason why I shouldn't. I know it scratches easier, but it's in a room with a pool table and I'm just being careful.

I have had them in the past, and the main issue, as you point out, is that they scratch. Outside scratches aren't as much of a problem as those on the inside, like when you get overzealous scraping algae.
Other than that, they transmit light better, are lighter, stronger, and easier to drill than glass.
