Well I have a school of yellow tail congos (9), a roseline shark, a pair of bosemani rainbows, 2 platties, a pair of rams, a bristlenose pleco and 2 dojo loaches in my 50ish gallon bow front.

Now the schoolers are seeming to have a testosterone fest, with the males chasing each other and then the male rainbow chasing the tetras (always around the females). I can just picture them saying, "look at me! I'm badddd, I'm tough, I'm tougher than you are, aren't I a great fish?" Now no one has any torn fins and everybody is in great color (of course they are in very great color when doing this). My most peaceful fish in the tank are the rams who pretty much hang around doing their own thing even when they're breeding, and the loaches!

Now is this pretty much schooling fish behavior and I have nothing to worry about (fish stress)? Everybodies healthy otherwise and it seems that this happens only certain times of the day (when they think I'm not watching, if they see me they all come to the front to be fed, so maybe it happens more than I know?). The bosemani was peaceful in the beginning, until he really got comfortable and started "feeling his oats", LOL!

I have had boseman rainbow for over 4 years and I think they just like to chase fish every once in a while. Mine pretty much keeps to himself except every so often he likes to race around the tank chasing the golden gourmis. Never hurts anyone, everyone in the tank are fine with no torn or nipped fins so I think it must be there nature. Just something to do for some exercise. :)

LOL, when the rainbow does this...

He throws his head back (the best way I can describe this is like a wolf baying at the moon) so I know he's just showing off. He also turns charcoal grey and yellow orange. I was a little worried of him harrassing the other fish, until I saw the tetras coloring up too and chasing each other. Boy if you've ever seen a yellow tail congo in breeding colors, WOW! They turn more blue, have a vertical black bar on their bodies, and their lower fin (ventral?) turns bright red, this on top of their white tipped long fins and yellow tail with the black bar, WOW!

Of course in a community tank with those loaches I doubt to see any babies, *sigh*
