Hello, I am interested if anyone makes use of a 'live' substrate in their pond. My idea is that this could house invertabrates such as FW copepods, if desired, that could make quick work of microalgae in the pond. Perhaps someone is doing this? I dont have a pond at the moment, but I have a friend who is currently experiencing a greenwater 'outbreak.' An invertebrate expert has informed me that bug larvae would quickly take over a pond's deep sand bed, and lead to unwanted pests. Since my friend's pond is right next to a lake, I doubt the bug larvae thing would be a big deal as long as the water turned clear.
