There are thousands of tiny bubble-like things littering my tank which is beginning to cycle. Any idea on what they may be? Bacteria?

If the water is cloudy then it is probably a bacterial bloom. Bacterial blooms are harmless and will go away on their own, though. It's also possible your filter is making a lot of bubbles... but you would likely have noticed that right away.
If you just set the tank up, new tanks tend to have little bubbles all over everything, including the glass, for the first couple days after adding the water. It goes away on it's own.
