I have a 10g tank and I was wondering if a Fluidised Bed Filter would be an overkill (Although the cleaner the water the better). I found a guide that would be easy for me to make (http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/diy_fbf.php) and I was also wondering if the filter was able to be "mounted" in the tank (only for knowledge purposes, i'm not actually wanting to mount it that way.)
I think it would be a VERY BIG OVER KILL on a 10 gallon the water flow that you would need to be like white water rapids on the 10. but check out www.duboisi.com there is a DIY section with one on it.
I would like to put one on my 190 gallon and still I think it will be a over kill ...........but Like you said cleaner the water the better.
