They tore down the old one and built a new one in 2002.
The theme is 'Waters of the Cape Fear River' as it is on the CFR mouth near Wilmington, NC.
My favorite displays were:
A freshwater tank with huge longnose gar and largemouth bass
The aquatic snakes exhibit
The sargassum exhibit
The "Cape Fear Shoals" tank with 280,000 gallons of water. Huge spadefish, permit, sandbar sharks, hogfish, ect.
And some temporary exhibits highlighting the New, Waccamaw and Roanoke Rivers.
