Ive noticed this once or twice before and seeing it again makes me curious.

Every so often, one of my yo-yo loaches goes really pale and looses most of its color and markings. It will stay that way for a few hourse, or maybe a day, then the next time I see it, it's back to normal. Any thoughts on why this happens?

Water parameters are constant and normal, no unusual changes or activity in the tank, not that I'm aware of.

Yeah, stress can cause it too. If there's nothing stressing them, then it's probably just a mood thing. Looks gross though, huh?

Yeah, makes me worry. Any fish that I have lost from stress do that right before they belly-up.

Funny, stressed fish make me stress...

Last time I saw it (yesterday) the poor guy was pressed up against the glass, pale as a ghost and its gills, whiskers and fins just all fluttering away. I think I spooked it coming into the room. Course 20 min later it was fine. I guess it helps to have a couple buddies swimmin around!

Kay, well I feel better knowing it's not just me.

My smallest one has always been a little freaked out by everything. He used to spend all day shoved up in a hole in some bogwood. Now that the tank has more plants and places to hide, he comes out much more. I think he may have also grown too big for the hole. I dunno.

Just give them plenty of places to hide. Plants, caves, pvc tube, anything. He should be fine, though. They're great fish.
