I have a weird situation:
I have really fine sand (almost powder) for some of my substrate. I noticed a crater in the back corner of my tank and figured the current from one of my pumps had made it (it's a new set-up).
But when I put rocks there to block it, I noticed my chromis acting weird. As close as he could to the old spot, he started flashing in the sand. At first I got nervous that he was sick. He's the only fish in the tank.
But then I noticed he was picking up little rocks and sand in his mouth, and instead of flashing on the ground, what he was really doing was backing in and waving his tail until the sand got stirred up. I got kind of sick of it because he was making my water a little cloudy. But after he made a little crater, it seems like he's stopped now.
Do chromises (I think that's what he is) do this often? I thought he might be sick, but is it possible he's up to something else? Could it be a "she" that is pretending to build a nest or something?
I'm a little worried. Thanks for any input you might have.
