I think I have a major problem with my hip replacement. Without going into detail, I would like to see if there is a Dr. on this board first. TIA

Not a doctor, but I worked as a CNA in orthopedics for almost 2 years. What questions do you have?

Well, I think I may have panicked yesterday. I got stuck in the shower. Couldn't move my leg without excruciating pain. After a couple of minutes it went away. This happened a few weeks ago too when I couldn't get out of the car. That lasted about 5 mins.
When I first broke my hip this would happen all the time. The Dr. put pins in my hip and said that the pain was caused from the pins pinching. He took those out and gave me the replacement. It is my understanding these last about 10 yrs. but my replacement is only about 71/2 yrs. I don't want to make an appointment with him unless I absolutely have to. TIA

I'm no orthopod, but have seen enough fractured, open, and replaced hips to say that you should probably see your doc. An xray, at least, is in order. Sounds like something may be slipping out of joint, no pun intended. Good luck!

From experience with my mother's two hip replacements I would agree that you should see your doctor. But do be forewarned, initial films may not show a problem at all, but please if the pain continues even on and off, do insist that it is completely checked over.
It took my mother two years of x-rays for "them" to finally see the seperation in the shaft of the replacement.

Well, ****!!! O.k. I'll call for an appointment tomorrow. I would like to get my parents back to Florida before any surgery though. My mom was a regesitered nurse and still , at 84, knows it all. lol
