the one in question has a pale overall coloration- ivory white with dark blotches. His fins are iridescent blue/violet and he is still quite young. on the anal fin i see three tiny orange spots- could it be an orange blotch? i believe my other young one to an o.b- orange and dark blotches with a bit of white. any ideas? here are pics of both-

couldnt see the pic real clear. but i think i see a folded upper snout. is it?
if so and aslo judging by the deep body it is most likely a female Labeotropheus Fuelleborni. males r rarely OB in this species. if u can tell me if his "nose" has a folded down look then it is for sure.

No his snout is not folded, it looks as if he has a puffy lower lip. Everyday his fins get more and more blue...maybe they are peacocks? I am a newbie at the art of cichlid keeping, and I just aquired these about two weeks ago. I am planning on a bigger tank (90gal) as I also have a 4 inch palmas polypterus
in with them. I think they should do well in this set up untill this winter.

I would go to the final size tank directly. It is cheaper and less time consuming for you and fish will be happier.

Buy the longest tank you are willing to pay and have aplace for it in the house. :)
