Vacuuming an "overgrown" tank

One question with tanks that have the "overgrown" plant look, how in the heck are you supposed to vacuum them? I see tanks on the internet all the time that are just coverd in plants and it doesn't even look like you can get at the gravel anymore without uprooting your plants.

well, basically, you don't.
There is no need in heavily planted tanks such as those.

So the fish doo doo gets used up by the plants, eh? How does one clean a planted tank? Plain 'ole water change each week?? Nothing more?

As a general rule yes, water changes and pruning remove waste, it just gets broken down differently in a heavy palnt tank. Surface vaccuming is done where possible without disturbung the plants, and deep vaccuming is done when moving or thinning plants.
